A maker for 46 years. I started college as a drawing and painting major and traded canvas for clay my second year. I was awarded a fellowship to work and live in Koishiwara, Japan for two month, the summer of 1980 at the Ota Family Pottery. This is where my love for slip decorating began. Learning the patterns, texture and traditions and making, that I later expanded with color when I returned.

Just as a painter does not paint the same painting over and over, I do not repeat my pottery pieces the same over and over. My philosophy is to treat each thrown piece as I would a new canvas.
